Landscape Projects is working with SMC Hugh Martin Architects, for Castlemore Securities LTD, at St Vincent Street Glasgow. This is a proposed development for a major speculative office on the edge of Glasgow City Centre.
The development is situated on the boundary between the M8 motorway and the City Centre financial region. The building and high quality public realm is intended to act as gateway into the city centre. The project consists of a series of 3 public spaces, which mark the entrance into the city centre and recognise the dramatic structure of the high-level m8 slip road. It is intended to develop a palette of materials that can be replicated for other sites within the city edge zone.
The existing topography of the site is utilised to mark the transition between the m8 and the surrounding streets. Visual connections are key to improving the legibility of what has been the broken edge to the historical urban grid.
