Landscape Projects was selected to develop proposals for Preston’s historic market square upon winning a competition organised by the Landscape Institute in 2009.
The proposals will remove clutter to reveal the facade of the Grade 1 listed Harris Museum and Art Gallery, and make an enlarged square capable of hosting major events. The proposals include the resurfacing of the streets and square, the installation of tall lighting columns, and extension of the Gilbert Scott-designed War Memorial.
Landscape Projects and their team have worked closely with English Heritage, the City’s Urban Design Team, and the Armed Forces to develop the design proposals, which, subject to funding approval, will be implemented in time for the Preston Guild celebrations in 2012.
