Landscape Projects were part of a shortlisted team for the Kings Cross Square competition in central London. The proposal focused on a deep and research based understanding of human behaviour at major infrastructural entrance points and gateways, and provided spaces for a huge variety of visitors who come into the capital.
Through analysis of pedestrian movement in and around the square the team developed a scheme which simplified the routes, reducing street clutter through careful organisation of crossings at desire lines and simplifying the traffic movement through the site.
Interactive kiosks, entrances, seating and clumps of trees acted a focus for the people to cluster around. Whilst gardens provided a moment of calm amongst the vibrancy of the district.
